WANTA GEMSGEMS TO JEWELS

WANTAGEMS · MINE TO MARKET

A documented journey for every gem.

Connect rough gemstones, custody transfers, cutting work and laboratory evidence in a gemstone passport.

Pilot planning — live tracking is not active. The example passport uses fictional records. Participant accounts, private uploads, custody approvals and independent review must be set up before real stones can be registered.

Evidence at each step

1. Record the rough

Assign a unique stone or parcel ID. Record declared source, date, photographs, weight and supporting documents. Mark unknown origin as unknown.

2. Confirm custody

Record sealed parcel numbers and transfer evidence. Sender and receiver each confirm a handover; discrepancies remain visible for review.

3. Follow the cutting

Link every finished gem to its parent rough record. Record weights, offcuts, cutting work and known treatments. Keep mixed parcels identified as mixed.

4. Attach independent evidence

Link laboratory reports and record how their authenticity was checked. A laboratory opinion and a documented custody history are separate kinds of evidence.

5. Share the passport

A future QR link can show approved public records beside a Shopify product or auction lot. Private IDs, prices and sensitive source details stay restricted.

6. Resolve questions

Record disputes, corrections and reviewer decisions without erasing earlier entries. Buyers can see gaps in the documented journey.

Participation should benefit everyone.

Miners can receive recognition and transaction records. Traders can document custody. Cutters can show their work. Buyers can inspect evidence. These are intended benefits; participation does not guarantee a sale or a higher price.

Participants should retain access to their own records. Public disclosure needs agreed permissions, and there must be a way to challenge a record or report a concern.

Start with a small, practical pilot.

Proposed scope: one cooperative, one trader, one cutting studio and 20–50 rough stones. Agree responsibilities, inspections and document handling before collecting real records.

Do not email identity documents, confidential mining records or bank details. Use the contact page for a general pilot inquiry only. There is no private document upload service on this website yet.

What must be ready for live tracking

A QR code identifies a record; it does not prove that a stone matches the record. Origin, ownership, treatments and responsible sourcing must be supported by the relevant evidence.
