PROPOSED MEMBER AUCTION PROCESS
Identity and trade verification
Student enrollment, community membership and auction access are separate decisions. Students and members seeking to bid or sell must complete the applicable auction review before access can be approved.
Auction accounts, private document uploads and verification services are not active yet. The following describes the proposed approval requirements; nobody is marked verified through this page.
First-stage application
Provide name, contact email, country, intended auction role and a short trading profile. Keep identity documents and sensitive numbers out of initial emails.
Documents for a later private review
| Applicant / role | Proposed review evidence | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| All auction participants, including students and members | Valid government-issued identity evidence through an approved private verification channel; any additional evidence must be justified for the specific case | Confirm the applicant and auction eligibility |
| Business sellers | Applicable business registration and authority to represent the business; trader references where relevant and with permission to contact them | Review business identity and trading history |
| Each proposed seller lot | Ownership or authority-to-sell evidence, source records where available, actual item photographs, measurements, treatment disclosures and any relevant laboratory reports | Review the individual lot independently of seller identity |
Specific requirements may depend on role, country and the review provider. A document request should state why it is needed, who can see it and how long it will be retained. Do not send IDs through an ordinary inquiry form, email or public community post.
Approval steps before auction access opens
- Initial application reviewed by an authorized WantaGems reviewer.
- Applicant receives the specific review notice and a confirmed private verification route.
- Identity and applicable trade documents are checked; discrepancies require clarification.
- The reviewer records the scope and date of the completed checks and communicates a decision.
- Auction terms and role permissions are accepted; only approved roles can be activated when the auction system is available.
- Seller lots are reviewed separately before listing.
An identity check does not establish criminal-history clearance, gemstone authenticity, ethical sourcing or a guarantee of trustworthy conduct. Criminal background screening is a separate process and is not currently offered.
Privacy and corrections
Before sensitive document collection begins, WantaGems must establish restricted reviewer access, a secure collection method, a retention/deletion policy and a way for applicants to correct inaccurate information. Collect only evidence needed for the stated review.
For now, send basic interest information only. There is no active secure upload link and no automatic approval, verification badge or live auction account.
